School Lunch Program - Spring 2020

Overview

This initiative was an amazing collaboration of cross-functional groups to fund, organize, make and distribute meals. This program came together in a week with a plan to serve for 3 weeks and ended up lasting through the end of the scheduled (but canceled) school year in May 2020.

    Participating Restaurant Partners:

    Ramen Bowls, Biggs BBQ, 6 Mile, Big Mill, Fields & Ivy, 23rd Street Brewery, Cheesy Street, Johnny’s, J. Wilson’s, Global Cafe

    & So many amazing volunteers supporting the effort.

  • Symbiotic support that provided reliable and delicious meals to kids for the remainder of the school year, and provided critical revenue and purpose to restaurants trying to survive.

    This program >

    –Provided balanced meals 7 days a week, breakfast and lunch, and some meals included encouraging notes or fun games.

    –Served as many as 2,500 meals per day. 17,500 per week.

    –Any leftovers were diverted to Just Food for community distribution.
